It'd be really nice if there was a simple styling option - simple, I
mean, both to use and to implement. If you limit it in scope somewhat,
you could actually create something in many cases more powerful than
practical* CSS, while still being simpler to use, especially with
support in the markup. For example, having a set of links marked
"navigation", then having the option in the style half to display on the
side, on the bottom, whatever. As a bonus, the web browser could ignore
that, and put the navigation links elsewhere - for example, drop them
entirely on TTS browsers unless asked for.
Unfortunately, that would necessitate adding another pair of descriptive
languages to the already messy collection we have, so I doubt it's going
to happen.
